The Piedmont Triad Research Park in Winston-Salem is home to the first regional office of The North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the world’s first government-sponsored organization dedicated to developing the biotechnology industry.

The Biotechnology Center’s mission is to provide long-term economic and societal benefits to North Carolina by supporting biotechnology research, business and education statewide.

Since 1984 the Biotechnology Center has worked to strengthen the research capabilities of North Carolina’s companies and universities—investing more than $174 million in biotechnology development statewide.
