84 Lumber Selects Winston-Salem for Distribution Center |

On January 27, 2005, 84 Lumber announced that they selected Winston-Salem as the location for their next wholesale lumber distribution center. The company has acquired a 15-acre site on Lowery Street in the Winston-Salem Business Park. 84 Lumber, based in Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania is the largest privately held supplier of building materials in the United States. It is one of the largest suppliers to the professional contractor and remodeling industry. The company plans to invest approximately $4 million in a 30,000 square-foot building plus yard storage. The facility will employ approximately 30 people. “We are pleased to welcome 84 Lumber to Winston-Salem and appreciate the opportunity to assist them in their site search,” said Bob Leak Jr., President of Winston-Salem Business Inc. “They will be a good addition to our growing industry mix. We look forward to working with them as they become operational.” Site work is underway and the facility is expected to be in operation by fall 2005. Since 1987, WSBI has assisted 96 companies representing more than $1 billion in tax base and more than 10,000 jobs. |
